BASIC SOAPMAKING WORKSHOP
Sunday, April 27, 9am - 5p; with Peggy.

Learn the basics of making natural soap the old fashioned way!  Handmade soap retains all its natural glycerine and is extremely moisturizing.  Most store "soaps" are actually detergents, and contain chemicals and synthetic ingredients, which are readily absorbed into the body through the skin.  During this 7-8 hour course, we'll cover the history of soapmaking, basic cold-process (lye) soapmaking instruction, aromatherapy and how to create scent blends, the use of herbs and botanicals in soap, the "Ten Commandments of Soapmaking", recipes & resources, ways to package your soap for gift-giving, and more.  We will make a batch of soap and after it cures, you'll receive a bar from this batch.

If you would like an opportunity to stir the soap as it's being made, in order to "feel" the different stages it goes through, (light trace, full trace, etc.), you will need to bring safety glasses and a pair of latex gloves. (like dishwashing gloves).  Yes, sometimes we look like quite the dork when we make soap! =)

Course tuition includes booklet & lunch.  $75;

Limited Space Available.

Registration and tuition due NLT Thursday, April 24.
